Whole Grilled Onion Wrap

Introduction:
This Whole Grilled Onion Wrap is a bold and flavorful creation—featuring tender grilled onions wrapped around your favorite fillings like grilled meat, cheese, or veggies. It’s low-carb, smoky, and perfect as a bun alternative, appetizer, or unique cookout side.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet onions (like Vidalia or yellow)
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Filling ideas: grilled chicken or steak strips, cheese slices, sautéed peppers, mushrooms, or fresh herbs
  • Toothpicks or skewers for holding wraps

Instructions:

  1. Prep Onions:
Peel onions and slice into thick rings (about 1/2-inch). Carefully separate the outer 2–3 whole rings to use as wraps. Save the smaller inner layers for another recipe.
  2. Grill Onion Rings:
Brush onion rings lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, or until softened and lightly charred but still holding their shape. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Add Fillings:
Lay grilled onion rings flat. Place your desired filling (meat, cheese, veggies) inside each ring.
  4. Wrap & Secure:
Carefully overlap or fold the onion ring around the filling (like a taco or open wrap). Use a toothpick or small skewer to hold everything in place if needed.
  5. Warm (Optional):
Place the assembled wraps back on the grill or in a skillet for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese or heat fillings through.
  6. Serve:
Enjoy warm, garnished with herbs or a drizzle of sauce—great with garlic aioli, BBQ sauce, or spicy mayo.

Enjoy!
