Introduction
Georgia’s Loaded Baked Beans take classic baked beans to the next level by adding layers of smoky bacon, savory ground beef, and a sweet-and-tangy sauce. Perfect for barbecues, potlucks, or family gatherings, this dish is a crowd-pleasing side that eats like a main.
Ingredients (Serves 8–10)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 lb (450 g) bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cans (28 oz each) baked beans
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook bacon: In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the pan.
- Brown beef & onion: Add ground beef and onion to the skillet. Cook until beef is browned and onion is softened. Drain excess grease.
- Mix beans & sauce: In a large baking dish, combine baked beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, cooked ground beef mixture, and half of the bacon. Mix well.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until bubbly and slightly thickened.
- Finish with bacon: Sprinkle remaining bacon over the top before serving.
