Introduction
These Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars combine the best of all worlds — buttery caramel, crunchy cereal, and a smooth chocolate topping. They’re easy to make, require no special equipment, and are perfect for potlucks, bake sales, or simply treating yourself at home.
Ingredients (Makes about 16 bars)
- 4 cups crispy rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for smooth chocolate topping)
Instructions
- Prepare pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and line with parchment paper. Spread cereal evenly in the bottom.
- Make caramel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and condensed milk. Stir constantly until mixture begins to thicken (about 8–10 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Pour caramel: Immediately pour the caramel sauce evenly over the cereal in the pan. Gently press down to coat the cereal. Let cool slightly.
- Top with chocolate: Melt chocolate chips with oil in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Spread evenly over the caramel layer.
- Chill & cut: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chocolate is firm. Cut into bars and serve.
Tips & Variations
- Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top for salted caramel flavor.
- Use dark chocolate for a richer taste or white chocolate for a sweet twist.
- Stir in chopped nuts or pretzels with the cereal for extra crunch.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Enjoy !!
