Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars

Introduction

These Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars combine the best of all worlds — buttery caramel, crunchy cereal, and a smooth chocolate topping. They’re easy to make, require no special equipment, and are perfect for potlucks, bake sales, or simply treating yourself at home.

Ingredients (Makes about 16 bars)

  • 4 cups crispy rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for smooth chocolate topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and line with parchment paper. Spread cereal evenly in the bottom.
  2. Make caramel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and condensed milk. Stir constantly until mixture begins to thicken (about 8–10 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour caramel: Immediately pour the caramel sauce evenly over the cereal in the pan. Gently press down to coat the cereal. Let cool slightly.
  4. Top with chocolate: Melt chocolate chips with oil in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Spread evenly over the caramel layer.
  5. Chill & cut: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chocolate is firm. Cut into bars and serve.

Tips & Variations

  • Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top for salted caramel flavor.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer taste or white chocolate for a sweet twist.
  • Stir in chopped nuts or pretzels with the cereal for extra crunch.
  • Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Enjoy !!
