Baked 3 Packet Pot Roast

Introduction

This classic 3 Packet Pot Roast is a foolproof comfort meal made with just a handful of ingredients. The secret lies in the seasoning packets — ranch, Italian dressing mix, and brown gravy mix — that come together to create a rich, savory flavor. Slow-baked to perfection, this roast comes out melt-in-your-mouth tender and makes the ultimate family dinner.

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

  • 1 (3–4 lb) chuck roast
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet Italian dressing mix
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 4–5 large carrots, cut into chunks
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, cut into chunks
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Sear the roast: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chuck roast on all sides until browned, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  3. Prepare seasoning mix: In a bowl, whisk together ranch, Italian, and brown gravy packets with beef broth.
  4. Assemble roast: Place the roast in a large Dutch oven or baking dish. Add onions, carrots, and potatoes around the meat. Pour seasoning mixture over everything.
  5. Bake: Cover tightly with foil or a lid and bake for 3–4 hours, until roast is fork-tender.
  6. Serve: Shred the roast slightly and spoon gravy over the meat and vegetables. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra flavor, add mushrooms and celery.
  • If you prefer a slow cooker version, cook on LOW for 7–8 hours.
  • Make the gravy thicker by whisking in a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons cold water) before serving.
  • Leftovers make excellent sandwiches or wraps the next day.

Enjoy !!
