Maid-Rite Sliders

Introduction:
Maid-Rite Sliders are the fun, snackable twist on Iowa’s beloved loose meat sandwich. Made with seasoned ground beef piled on soft slider buns and topped with melty cheese and tangy pickles, these mini sandwiches are perfect for game day, parties, or an easy dinner with a nostalgic kick.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
  • Sliced cheddar or American cheese (optional)
  • Dill pickle chips (for topping)
  • Optional: melted butter + sesame seeds for brushing tops

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Meat:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion together until beef is browned and crumbly (don’t over-chop—you want texture!). Drain excess grease.
  2. Season:
Stir in mustard, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 3–5 minutes so the flavors soak in.
  3. Assemble Sliders:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice buns in half. Place bottoms in a baking dish. Spoon beef mixture evenly over each one. Add cheese slices and a few pickles, then cover with bun tops.
  4. Optional Topping:
Brush bun tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Bake:
Cover with foil and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until warmed through and cheese is melted.
  6. Serve:
Slice and serve hot with chips, fries, or coleslaw on the side.

Enjoy!!
