Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak Recipe

Introduction:
Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is a classic comfort food made even easier. Juicy beef patties simmered in a rich onion and mushroom gravy—this dish is hearty, satisfying, and perfect over mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a hands-off, home-cooked meal.

Ingredients:

For the Patties:

  • 1 1/2 lbs (680g) ground beef
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Gravy:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix (or 1 tbsp cornstarch for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Patties:
In a large bowl, mix all patty ingredients until just combined. Shape into 6 oval patties.
  2. Brown (Optional but Recommended):
In a skillet over medium heat, lightly brown each patty for 2–3 minutes per side. This adds flavor and helps them hold together.
  3. Prepare Gravy:
In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, gravy mix (or cornstarch), ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Assemble in Slow Cooker:
Place onions and mushrooms at the bottom of the slow cooker. Layer the patties on top. Pour the gravy mixture over everything.
  5. Cook:
Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until patties are fully cooked and tender.
  6. Serve:
Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, spooning extra gravy over the top.

Enjoy!
