Monterey Sausage Pie is a warm, cheesy, and protein-packed meal that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner. With spicy sausage, gooey Monterey Jack cheese, and a light, fluffy egg base, it’s easy to make and even easier to love.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage (spicy or mild), crumbled
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- Optional: chopped bell peppers, green onions, or fresh herbs for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
Heat to 190°C (375°F). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or deep-dish baking pan. - Cook Sausage:
In a skillet, cook sausage and onions over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and let cool slightly. - Layer in Pie Dish:
Spread the sausage mixture evenly in the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese over the top. - Make Egg Mixture:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, and milk until smooth. Pour over the sausage and cheese. - Bake:
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set. A knife inserted should come out clean. - Serve:
Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with a side salad or fresh fruit.
