Introduction:
Pepper Jack Boudin Balls are a spicy, crispy Cajun favorite—made with flavorful boudin sausage, creamy cheese, and a golden breadcrumb coating. With a melty pepper jack center and crunchy outside, they’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at any gathering.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) boudin sausage (casings removed)
- 1/2 cup pepper jack cheese, cubed or shredded
- 1/2 cup cooked rice (optional, for added texture)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1–1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- Oil for frying
- Optional: hot sauce or remoulade for serving
Instructions:
- Prepare Filling:
In a bowl, combine boudin sausage and rice (if using). Mix until evenly blended. Form into golf ball–sized balls. Press a cube or pinch of shredded pepper jack into the center of each, sealing the ball around it. - Chill:
Place balls on a tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up. - Coat:
Dredge each ball in flour, dip in beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure a solid coating. - Fry:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 175°C (350°F). Fry balls in batches for 3–4 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels. - Serve:
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce—remoulade, ranch, or spicy mustard are great options.
Enjoy !
