Pepper Jack Boudin Balls

Introduction:
Pepper Jack Boudin Balls are a spicy, crispy Cajun favorite—made with flavorful boudin sausage, creamy cheese, and a golden breadcrumb coating. With a melty pepper jack center and crunchy outside, they’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at any gathering.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) boudin sausage (casings removed)
  • 1/2 cup pepper jack cheese, cubed or shredded
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice (optional, for added texture)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1–1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional: hot sauce or remoulade for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Filling:
In a bowl, combine boudin sausage and rice (if using). Mix until evenly blended. Form into golf ball–sized balls. Press a cube or pinch of shredded pepper jack into the center of each, sealing the ball around it.
  2. Chill:
Place balls on a tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Coat:
Dredge each ball in flour, dip in beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure a solid coating.
  4. Fry:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 175°C (350°F). Fry balls in batches for 3–4 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve:
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce—remoulade, ranch, or spicy mustard are great options.

Enjoy !
