Introduction:
Million Dollar Lasagna earns its name with layers of creamy cheese, hearty meat sauce, and perfectly cooked noodles. It’s comfort food at its finest—decadent, filling, and sure to impress your family or guests at any table.
Ingredients:
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1/2 lb (225g) Italian sausage (optional)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (24 oz / 680g) jar marinara sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Cheese Filling:
- 1 (8 oz / 225g) block cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Layering:
- 9–12 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Make Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook ground beef, sausage (if using), and onion over medium heat until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in marinara, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Prepare Cheese Layer: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, ricotta, sour cream, egg, parmesan, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Assemble Lasagna:
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 3–4 noodles, half the cheese mixture, one-third of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella.
- Repeat the layers once more. Top with remaining noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes. Uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest & Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley or basil if desired.
